A Course in Modern Algebraic Topology
نویسنده
چکیده
This is a course in algebraic topology for anyone who has seen the fundamental group and homology. Traditionally (20 years ago), the syllabus included cohomology, the universal coefficient theorem, products, Tor and Ext and duality. We will cover all those topics, while also building a modern framework of derived categories and derived functors using the Cartan–Eilenberg method. We will apply these methods to modules, topological spaces, simplicial sets, sheaves, and spectra (=generalized cohomology theories).

Categorically-algebraic topology and its applications
This paper introduces a new approach to topology, based on category theory and universal algebra, and called categorically-algebraic (catalg) topology. It incorporates the most important settings of lattice-valued topology, including poslat topology of S.~E.~Rodabaugh, $(L,M)$-fuzzy topology of T.~Kubiak and A.~v{S}ostak, and $M$-fuzzy topology on $L$-fuzzy sets of C.~Guido. Moreover, its respe...
متن کاملFunctorial semantics of topological theories
Following the categorical approach to universal algebra through algebraic theories, proposed by F.~W.~Lawvere in his PhD thesis, this paper aims at introducing a similar setting for general topology. The cornerstone of the new framework is the notion of emph{categorically-algebraic} (emph{catalg}) emph{topological theory}, whose models induce a category of topological structures. We introduce t...
متن کاملAlgebraic and topological aspects of quasi-prime ideals
In this paper, we define the new notion of quasi-prime ideal which generalizes at once both prime ideal and primary ideal notions. Then a natural topology on the set of quasi-prime ideals of a ring is introduced which admits the Zariski topology as a subspace topology. The basic properties of the quasi-prime spectrum are studied and several interesting results are obtained. Specially, it is pro...

This is part one of a two semester course on algebraic topology. The course was offered in Fall 2011 at the Courant Institute for Mathematical Sciences, a division of New York University. Though the course is not taken from any particular text, some references are Introduction to Algebraic Topology by Munkres, Hatcher’s series of texts on algebraic topology, Greenberg & Hauper, Spanier, etc. Mi...
متن کاملON ALGEBRAIC AND COALGEBRAIC CATEGORIES OF VARIETY-BASED TOPOLOGICAL SYSTEMS
Motivated by the recent study on categorical properties of latticevalued topology, the paper considers a generalization of the notion of topological system introduced by S. Vickers, providing an algebraic and a coalgebraic category of the new structures. As a result, the nature of the category TopSys of S. Vickers gets clari ed, and a metatheorem is stated, claiming that (latticevalu...
